Nutritive values and feeding safety of Periplaneta americana L.

Abstract: The nutritional content and sanitary indexes of Periplaneta americana L.were determined.The results showed that crude protein and fat in P.americana L.was 63.1% and 17.20%,respectively.There were 18 kinds of amino acids.The ratio of essential to total amino acid was 37.95%.It was rich in minerals.The dominant unsaturated fatty acid was oleic,and saturated fatty acid palmitic.The contents of Pb,As,Cd,Cr,mould fungus and bacteria were within the limit of safety.Therefore,P.americana L.could potentially be used as a material for high quality feed.
